The Weekly Assesment Report (WAR) sheets are the chief means of tracking student progress in the general education classroom. It seems to be a simple procedure, yet is there a better way to handle them? Collaboration between general education and special education teachers cannot stop with those weekly reports. Some serious discussions need to happen.
This means WAR, sheets that is.

The terrible fact is we are heavily concerned about the test our students will be taking in April. It drives ARD decisions and it seems that 80% of our discussion of what students need revolves around the test they are to take. How can we get our focus off of the TAKS and move to what the student needs…an education that encompasses more than test taking skills.

The mod sheet makes or breaks an inclusion program. It sums up the student in one page, but the problem is the lack of depth. It takes more than just a few little numbers to tell what a student needs to succeed.
